Install Facebook Messenger Linux Client on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
The installation is very simple. Just go to Messenger for Desktop website and download the deb package of your OS architecture which can be checked with a simple arch command.
- x86 means 32 bits
- x86_64 means 64 bits
After the deb packages is downloaded, open a terminal window and navigate to the download folder. Then install it with the following command.
Once installed, you can start it from Unity dash or your application menu.

Steps
- Download and setup Kali Linux
- Open terminal using ctrl+alt+t and type sudo root
- Enter your root username and password
- Now open social engineering toolkit by typing se-toolkit in terminal
- Enter 1 to do Social-Engineering Attacks
- Then enter 2 to select Website Attack Vectors
- Now enter 3 to select credential harvester attack method
- Enter 2 since we want to trap the victim with a clone webpage
- Look for tabnabbing:XXX.XX.XXX.X where XXX.XX.XXX.X is your IP address
- Open a new terminal and type su root and root password and ifconfig
- Then copy-paste the IP at the end of Tabnabbing:
- Now enter URL of the site you want to clone (www.facebook.com)
- Wait till the process of cloning the site is done
- Then you need to shorten your IP address using adf.ly or goo.gl
- Now all you need to do is send the shortened link to the victim
- Wait for the info to appear in the terminal.
